Prague, January 2007 – March 17 – 19, 2007, will see the largest golf exhibition in the Czech Republic, GOLF SHOW 2007, take place for the 12th time. Companies offering golf equipment, clothing, footwear, various lawn preparation machines, simulators and other interesting products will once again be present at the show. Naturally, representatives from various golf courses and clubs will be among the exhibitors. After the success of last year’s show, visitors can once again look forward to a section devoted to golf tourism.

GOLF SHOW (www.golfshow.cz) is an exhibition with a well-established tradition but a modern outlook open to new trends. The show is not, therefore, focused solely on equipment, but beginning from last year now caters for the growing demand for Golf tourism in the Czech Republic with a dedicated section. The new section at the show aims to promote golf resorts, accommodation facilities and spas that work closely together. This takes place under the official auspices of CzechTourism (www.CzechTourism.com, www.CzechTourism.cz), which will also be exhibiting at the show and arranging a press conference on the theme ‘The Czech Republic – Undiscovered Golf Destination of 2007’. Some completely new features of the 12th show will be the extension of the exhibition from two to three days, a practice driving range within the Trade Fair Palace and the widening of the GOLF SHOW’s range of exhibitors to include golf tourism overseas.

Companies supplying golf equipment, clothing, footwear, simulators and swing analyzers, as well as specialist travel agents will also be present at the exhibition. More than 2500 visitors drawn from the golfing public are expected, and the trend is for that number to grow. In the last few years interest has been growing among people who are not active golfers, but who would like to start playing or who want to gather more information. Representatives from Czech incoming tour operators and other tourism organisations will also be invited to attend. Guests involved in golf from neighbouring countries will also receive official invitations. The organisers have taken this step as, thanks to its location in Europe, golfing tradition and the presence of important established companies involved in golf in the country, the Czech Republic is a superb place to forge contacts and do business in central and Eastern Europe.

At last year’s GOLF SHOW some 104 companies took stands, a 40% increase in exhibitor numbers on the previous years. This growth was achieved mainly thanks to a new section at the show devoted to golf tourism in the Czech Republic – a total of 43 golf clubs and courses, hotels and other accommodation facilities, spas, travel agents and associations exhibited in the section. The Carlsbad Region had a strong showing, as did South Bohemia and a joint representation from Central Bohemia and Prague.

The GOLF SHOW has a well-established tradition and reputation in the Czech Republic. The first GOLF SHOW took place in 1996 at the U Hybernů Palace with around 30 Czech and foreign exhibitors taking part. An increase in interest on the part of exhibitors and the need for a larger exhibition space led the organisers to move the show to the larger Trade Fair Palace in 1997, when around 60 exhibitors took part. In 1998 the show took place at the Erpet sports hall and the following year it was incorporated into the Sportprague trade fair. Since 2000 it has been held at the Trade Fair Palace.

The 12th GOLF SHOW aims to contribute to making Czech golf even more popular at home and abroad and, in so doing, build on that achieved at the most important golf tourism trade fair in the world, the International Golf Travel Market (November 2006, Marbella, Spain), where the Czech Republic was awarded the title of ‘Undiscovered golf destination of 2007’ as part of the 7th IAGTO Awards.
